A Wicked Mini Quilt

I recently participated in the #broadwayminiquiltswap on Instagram. It was a lot of fun!

I made a quilt featuring a scene from Wicked for my swap partner. I did forget to check if she likes batiks.  I haven’t figured out why batiks are so alienating to some folks. Most quilters either love them or hate them. I am in the love ’em camp! The watercolor-presentation of batiks is beautiful to me.

The quilt is multimedia with acrylic paints, acrylic inks, and a good dose of thread sketching.

I wanted the sky to be that vivid red/pink you see before a storm, but it was hard to match with fabrics, until I pulled from my batik stash!

I am crossing my fingers that my swap partner will be in the love ’em camp too…or at least possibly tolerate them for the sake of her new Wicked quilt.
