I have a basket with no less than 19 quilt tops that need finishing.
Actually, 18 now. One was finished and was sent to its new home.
However, I forgot to take a picture of the finished quilt after it came out of the wash.
I’m notorious for that.
I will take a million in progress pictures, but when it finally is all finished, I get excited and forget.
The picture below is the quilt I finished quadruple checking to make sure I didn’t skip any area I wanted to quilt. When the big stitches were all finished, I was pretty happy with it. You’ll have to use your imagination.
I have another quilt in progress that I’m hand quilting. It’s black, white, and grey, and I thought it was lovely, but I’m second guessing myself, wondering if it is the best one I could make. So I set it aside for a bit until I stop overthinking and trying to make it perfect.
So, since I’m making myself sideways over quilts to give away, I decided to pick up a quilt that I’ve been working on (very slowly) for myself.
I have one tied lap quilt that I made with help from my mama when I was four years-old. So I figure it’s about time I made a quilt for myself.
I love, love, love red, white, and blue quilts.
So that’s what I’m making.
Now since this quilt is for me, I don’t fuss over making sure my stitches are evenly sized and spaced. I’m just focused on getting it done so I can snuggle up with it.
I have been fiddling with a larger quilting motif for the solid white squares, and thought about a feathered wreath, but I haven’t committed to anything yet because after doing half of one I didn’t like the contrast of curves with the remainder of blocks with straight stitches.
I have plenty to do until I decide, so I just keep on working on this one.
Have you done any selfish sewing or quilting lately? I’d love to hear what you’re working on!
