I’m more than willing to share my favorite go-to recipes.
Most of the time.
There are a couple recipes that I might not fully disclose all the “extra” ingredients.
Okay, so maybe that isn’t kind and a bit stingy on my part.
Now my best pal in the whole wide world makes the ultimate white chocolate and cranberry cookies for Christmas.
Once a year.
Just for gifts.
The best cookies ever!
I’m not exaggerating in the least.
The only problem with these cookies is that she will not share the recipe.
Well, she did once, and my kids and I followed it exactly.
Our cookies were not the same.
Not even close.
No way that was the ultimate Christmas cookie recipe!
She had to have left something out!
So we tried to get the recipe again.
We needed a good strategy.
This time, we brought over wine and my daughter was going to help make the cookies.
Maybe if we got her a little tipsy she’d be apt to disclose the secret to making the ultimate Christmas cookies.
Ugh! She prepped some of the stuff in advance!
Even our ploy to use wine and distract her while we learned the recipe in stealth mode failed us.
We went home our Christmas cookies in hand, wrapped in foil and ready to start eating on our drive home.
Still no cookie recipe!
So she might be my very best friend in the world, but she sure keeps that cookie recipe under wraps.
Maybe it’s because it is her Christmas trademark of sorts.
We always know one huge batch of the best cookies will be made once a year.
And we wait all year for them.
In December we remind her that we are waiting.
Okay, that’s a fib.
We remind her in October or November.
And then we wait some more.
Until Christmas comes along and we get our cookies.
The best Christmas cookies ever!
Totally worth the wait!!
We might have to hide a few from each other.
We squirrel them away where we think no one will find them.
We gobble them up and when we see the bottom of the container, we get a little sad.
And when someone is walking around eating one of the hidden cookies, they might get a look of absolute disapproval while we wonder where they hid their portion of the cookies.
We all know we have to wait until next year for more cookies.
So we start waiting again.
And we start reminding her we are waiting.
Okay, so maybe not in October or November.
We remind her we need more cookies as soon as that tin is empty.
And we wait.
So we don’t have her recipe, and likely we never will, but this recipe for White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies from Allrecipes is about as close as we can get to those wonderful cookies.
I sure do love that gal, but I sure do wish she’d give me that recipe!
